Cleverly Disguised as a Responsible Adult
After a rather traumatic time in Elementary school and Junior High (I hope those bullies look back someday and thank their lucky stars that I was a lot more stable than those who get picked on today), I transferred to Regis High School, a small, yet impressive Catholic school in Stayton, Oregon.
Graduated in 1993 with a degree in Biology from Southern Oregon State College (now Southern Oregon University) in Ashland, OR. I enjoyed the Biology program and I highly respect a majority of the professors there. It was in college when I started realizing how sheltered a life I'd lived.
Didn't think that was enough, so in 1995 I achieved a Master of Arts from Willamette University's School of Education in Salem, OR. Willamette is an EXCELLENT school. If you are considering going there.. stop considering and just send in your tuition! (:
After spending a very cold and snowy year in Massachusetts, a move back to southern Oregon was definitely in order. Since the fall of 1996, I've been back in public education in our beautiful state. I taught 7th and 8th grade science and math classes at North Middle School in Grants Pass for several years, then taught Biology and low level math at North Medford High School. I became a Dean of Students at Hedrick Middle School (in the Medford district still!) and worked there for three years doing student discipline (my least favorite part, for sure!), scheduling, both the master schedule of who teaches what and when, but also scheduling students into classes, and whatever else needed doing. I'm about to embark on a new journey. I'll be going back to NMHS as an assistant principal.
Over the years, I've made some friends, lost some friends (I was sure I'd put them in the front pocket of my jacket, but they are just nowhere to be found now!), got married, sold my horse, moved back and forth across the country, got divorced, learned how to ride a motorcycle, got a new horse, and finally realized that one of my dearest friends of several years is someone who is a true partner, and a true love; the type of relationship I've always wanted. I'm slowly learning, in my copious amounts of spare time (hah!), how to build and design web pages so I can become more involved in his business. We plan to continue our lives here in southern Oregon now that we are MARRIED. (:
Southern Oregon is one of the most beautiful places in the country and there are very few other places I'd want to live. There is a lot to do in here, specifically the Rogue Valley. There's camping, skiing at Mt. Ashland, mountain biking, horseback riding, and a plethora of other activities. Strangely (or not so strangely) enough, one of my hobbies is playing on the net. If you want more specifics on just what I do on the net, and other hobbies, check out this link.
I've had some pictures of different places, people and pets posted on my web pages for some time now. There are quite a few that I'm quite proud of, and didn't think anything of just displaying them.. until a friend said, "Hey.. what if someone uses any of these pictures for profit?" Well, karma is a pretty intense thing.. I have the negatives, the original pics, etc. etc. If you want to use any of the ones that are actually good, please let me know what your plans are.. I'd really hate to run across my pics somewhere and not have given permission for their use..
