Shire of Glyn Dwfn Defender/Prize Tourney
Tournament Armored Foot Champion The Shire of Glyn Dwfn invites all brave souls to compete for the prestigious title of Shire Defender. This will be a multi-weapon tourney. Each combatant begins the tourney with 3 "lives" PLUS one for a heraldic painted shield or Surcoat, one for a Banner or personal Herald, and one for no visible plastic or sports armour (total of 6 possible). Each fighter will fight in every round, matched radomly, unless they run out of of "lives". At the conclusion of each match the vanquished will lose a "life" and the victor will gain one. At the end of the declared rounds, the fighter with the most "lives" remaining will be declared Shire Defender & Heavy Foot Combat Champion. Those wishing to fight for the joy of the contest, who do not wish to be or for some reason cannot serve as Shire Defender, may fight "Without Honors". That does not mean fighting without honor, but rather competing without seeking the honor of being Shire Defender. ;> An additional change from the standard tourney format will be the "Two Extremity Hit" or "Hocktide Rules". Simply stated, two valid strikes to the arms or legs will count as a defeat. Combatant receiving such hits will not give up the use of the limb, change hands or fight from their knees. They will instead pause to acknowledge the blow, then continue fighting, hopefully taking more care to defend their arms and legs from that point on. Legal target zones will not change. All that changes is how we acknowledge leg and arm hits for this tournament. Armor Inspection beginning Saturday at 10:00am with The weapon combinations for each round will be as follows: Prizes will be awarded beyond just the honor of being our shire defender! |
