Camping & Lodging

Camping: With the size of our new event site, camping should no be longer a problem.

There are three general camping sites planned:

• Horse Area: Right by the site entrance, near or adjacent to the horse stalls. Those choosing to camp near the horses must maintain a quiet camp at all time. "Quiet Time" means no loud music or raucous merriment. ;>
• Period Camp: For period only camps, very near the horse challenge areas and ground combat lists. By "period camping" we mean campsites that "look" period. ;> No nylon dome tents, ice chests are covered up, etc. Those choosing to camp here have a 11:00pm "quiet time" restriction.
• War Practice Camp: Out a short distance from the entrance flat rise in horse park itself. This area is furthest from the horse and tourney activities, but adjacent to the War Practice area. Those camping in the war practice area will have less restrictions on noise, with the "Quite Time" restrictions going into effect at midnight, but things like, fireworks or cannons are right out, everywhere in the site.

Fires: Open fires will not be allowed in the Period or Horse camping areas, though portable fire pits will be allowed and are encouraged. Properly supervised ground fires will be allow for those camping in the War camp area.

Drinking: This is a Discretely Wet Site so alcoholic beverages in period containers are allowed, but getting drunk and making a spectacle of yourself is not. As a wise fellow recently put it, "Folks sitting around a fire, drinking and singing is okay. Tunic-less idiots running around hollering and wrestling is not. 2nd group NO one likes." ;>

Motels: For those with no desire to camp this early in the season, there are several very nice motels within 15 minutes of the event site offering comfortable lodging in the near by town of Shady Cove and even more less than 30 minutes away in Medford. The closest motel is the La Quinta Inn & Suites with rates starting at $84 per night.
