Archery Competition

ARCHERY FOR ALL AGES!  PRIZES FOR ALL AGE GROUPS!

We will be running THREE archery competitions on Saturday, April 17, 2010.

Archery Prizes10:30 AM to 12:00 PM - "JUNIOR ARCHERS' TOURNEY" (ages 11 through 15).  Half distance "Royal Round" (six arrows each at 10, 15, and 20 yards, with a one minute rapid fire at 10 yards).  Winner receives a handmade quiver (see illustration).  Minors MUST be accompanied by a legally responsible adult and suitable waivers signed.

1:15 PM to 2:45 PM - "SMALLS' ARCHERY TOURNAMENT" (ages 10 and under).  This will be a "Bunny Shoot" with simulated rabbits at various ranges and with various values.  Winner receives a period longbow (approx. 15 lb. draw) from bowyer Phil Silva at "Woodbows.Com" (www.woodbows.com) (see illustration).  Minors MUST be accompanied by a legally responsible adult and suitable waivers signed.

3:00 PM to 4:30 PM - "ADULT ARCHERS' TOURNEY" (ages 16 and up).  Regular "Royal Round" (six arrows each at 20, 30, and 40 yards with a one minute speed round at 20 yards).  Winner receives handmade bracer/arm guard.  Waivers must be signed and Minors (16-17) must have a waiver signed by a legally responsible adult (adult accompaniment NOT required, however).

Each tournament is limited to a maximum of sixteen (16) archers (due to time and safety considerations) with tournament sign-up at the Gate.   First come, first served, however,  because of time constraints, archers will be obliged to be on the field and ready at the specified time.  Archers not present for roll call will forfeit their position and their slot will go to the alternates in their order of sign-up, even if the original archer arrives before the actual tournament commences.  Sorry, but "SCA Time" does NOT apply.

A minimum of eight (8) archers in each class is required for us to hold a prize tourney.  If fewer archers than the minimum sign up for any particular tournament, the tourney will either be canceled or run strictly as a "fun shoot".  

While the horsey set and the heavies are doing their thing, let's have a super archery tournament!
